穀胱甘肽(Glutathione) 由三種 胺基酸(Amino Acid) 所組成，中間那一個胺基酸就是半胱胺酸。一般而言，在身體內部，這三種胺基酸的庫存量，以半胱胺酸的庫存量最少，所以補充 半胱胺酸 就近乎等於是補充 穀胱甘肽 的意思。穀胱甘肽 是身體細胞內部最主要的解毒劑。到Google搜尋引擎打入關鍵字，glutathione detoxification，就可以看到很多相關的醫學論文。因為解毒的關係，所以常常會消耗掉 穀胱甘肽 中間那一個 半胱胺酸 分子。
